A. Harun Korkmaz
A. Harun Korkmaz, who completed his undergraduate education at Istanbul University Faculty of Law, completed his master's degree in Private Law Program at Istanbul University as well (bachelor's in 2017, master's in 2021). Currently working as a research assistant at the Department of Private International Law at Istanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Law, A. Harun Korkmaz continues his education in the Private Law PhD Program at Istanbul Bilgi University.
During his tenure as a lawyer before becoming a research assistant, he was part of the legal team representing Turkey in investment arbitration cases brought before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). He also worked in the team representing Halkbank in the process conducted by the Office of Foreign Assets and Control (OFAC), a division of the United States Department of the Treasury, regarding sanctions against Halkbank.
He has served as an arbitrator and team coach multiple times in competitions such as the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Istanbul Arbitration Centre Future Arbitrator Competition, and Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot. He is a member of various organizations including Young ICCA (International Council for Commercial Arbitration), Young ICSID (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes), Young ISTAC (Istanbul Arbitration Centre), ICC YAAF (Young Arbitration & ADR Forum), Young EDAC (Energy Disputes Arbitration Center), and Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG), as well as a member of the General Assembly of the Turkish Touring and Automobile Association.
He assists in courses related to private international law, international commercial law, and international dispute resolution. He has publications in the fields of private international law and arbitration. He is proficient in Turkish, English, and Arabic.
